Call for information on Mercury Sphygmomanometers in Healthcare and the Feasibility of Alternatives

The Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks has received a request for a scientific opinion on Mercury Sphygmomanometers in Healthcare and the Feasibility of Alternatives.

Scope of the call for information:

Interested parties are invited to submit information on the following topics:

1) Comparison of mercury-based sphygmomanometers with their alternatives;

2) Possible health-related adverse effects related to the switch from mercury-based sphygmomanometers to their alternatives;

3) Calibration of sphygmomanometers.

Submission of information:

All information should be submitted in electronic form specifying “Sphygmomanometers - Call for Information” in the subject line of the e-mail.

All information is considered public unless otherwise stated by the provider.
