Why we are consulting

Call for information on the safety of medical devices containing DEHP-plasticized PVC or other plasticizers on neonates and other groups possibly at risk

The Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks has received a request for a scientific opinion on the safety of medical devices containing DEHP-plasticized PVC or other plasticizers on neonates and other groups possibly at risk .

In this context, the safety of available alternatives to the DEHP plasticized PVC medical devices and/or alternatives for PVC itself in medical devices will be considered.

Interested parties are invited to submit:
1) Scientific peer reviewed research papers and reviews (later than 1995) on this issue.
2) Data on safety evaluation.
3) Other publicly available credible scientific information that may not be easily available and which is directly relevant to this issue.

All information should be submitted in electronic form by 11 May 2006.

All information is considered public unless otherwise stated by the provider.
