About the 2018 Forum
On Thursday, 1 February 2018, a Global Health Policy Forum will be hosted in the DEVCO Infopoint from 10:00 to 12:00. It will summarise Global Health policy in 2017, with a discussion of possible topics for 2018 and feedback on the 2018 WHO Executive Board meeting.
The Global Health Policy Forum
The Global Health Policy Forum brings together interested parties (from industry, NGOs, international organisations) to exchange information, and discuss policy developments, with a view to maximising synergies and fostering mutual understanding.
Through the Forum, the European Commission aims to ensure open dialogue on global health. The Global Health Policy Forum is coordinated in particular between DG SANTE, DG RTD & DG DEVCO and a coalition of global health civil society organisations (Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevoelkerung (DSW), Global Health Advocates (GHA), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Access Campaign, Oxfam International, Save the Children, Stop AIDS Alliance, The One Campaign, World Vision International).

Background
In 2017, DG SANTE organised a Stakeholder Consultation ahead of the 70th World Health Assembly on May 12th 2017 with the EU Delegation in Geneva. The Forum participants expressed their positions on various agenda items of the World Health Assembly, with a view to inform the EU and its members who are in the process of developing their positions. The meeting sought better links between the Global Health Policy Forum work in Brussels and interested parties in Geneva. The discussions were open and civil society(CSOs) actively participated. Most CSO interventions touched on access issues.
In 2016, as rotating chair of the Global Health Policy Forum, DG RTD organised four Global Health Policy Forums on Health and Migration, Access to Essential Medicines, Health and Environment and Access to New Medicines. All the presentations from the 2016 Global Health Policy Forum are available here on the Global Health Policy Forum webpage.
