Non-communicable diseases are responsible for 80% of the disease burden in the Member States and about two thirds of all deaths in the European region.
With the Healthier Together - EU Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) Initiative, the Commission supports ambitious and innovative actions against the leading causes of avoidable premature death in Europe, thus building a strong Health Union and complementing the Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan.
This webinar, on 22 June, will show how the EU is supporting countries to reduce the burden of NCDs and improve the citizens’ health and well-being through the Healthier Together Initiative. In the presence of Stella Kyriakides, European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, the Commission will present the initiative – a guidance and implementation toolkit – covering five key areas:
- Cardiovascular diseases
- Diabetes
- Chronic respiratory diseases
- Mental health and neurological disorders
- Health determinants
The Healthier Together Initiative will support actions during 2022-2027, with a view of helping Member States reach the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 targets and the WHO 2025 targets on NCDs.
