Luxembourg, 16 December 2015
On 16 December 2015, DG SANTE, together with the International Fragrance Association, IFRA, organised the third workshop to report on the progress of the IDEA project about risk assessment methodologies processes and criteria to identify fragrance allergens of concern. This is a result of the SCCS opinion on fragrance allergens in cosmetic products of 26-27 July 2012 which called for developing high quality safety assessment in this area.
Some 50 participants attended this workshop; beside SCCS members, there were also experts from academia, the fragrance industry, Commission departments and a representative from the Luxembourg Ministry of Health.
This annual event continues to be the appropriate platform to monitor the progress made, exchange views, update the programme and priorities for future work to ensure consumer safety in the area of fragrance allergy whilst providing a framework for innovation and competiveness for the EU cosmetic industry.
Minutes and materials of the meeting will be soon available on the IDEA project website.
