In January 2024, the European Commission signed an agreement associating Montenegro with the EU4Health programme.
This agreement will open access for Montenegro to EU funding in the area of health. It will enable the Montenegrin health system to respond to immediate needs and contribute to long-term recovery.
The European Commission signed an association agreement with authorities from Ukraine, Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina that opens access to EU funding for these countries.
The access is subject to compliance with the Union legislation such as the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 on the General Data Protection Regulation when treatment of personal data is involved in implementing a specific action.
Montenegrin public and private entities will be able to receive funding through competitive (open calls) and non-competitive (direct grants and joint actions) measures. The agreement will be retroactive to 1 January 2024, allowing Montenegro to participate in the calls to be launched from January 2024.
The EU4Health Programme has a total budget of €4.4 billion for 2021-27.
