The data used to analyse the operation of the Directive is collected yearly through the National Contact Points (NCPs) of EU and EEA countries. The report highlights:

  • 19 countries out of twenty-eight have a system for prior authorisation in place
  • the 83.5% of the requests for cross border health care under the Directive was granted
  • Patient mobility is mostly involving neighbouring countries
