Help 2.0

The first phase of the new "help 2.0" campaign has been launched

The idea is to collect concrete messages for the next campaign. Young people are invited to tell their experiences and give their tips on "how not to start smoking, to stop smoking or to avoid the dangers of passive smoking". Several partner youth organisations are spreading the news.
Best ones could be used as a base for the future TV spots and Web operations

"Help for a life without tobacco": 4 year results

Conference "Communicating health, the tobacco example", 9-11 October 2008

Since 2002, the European Commission has been organising wide-ranging information and prevention campaigns related to smoking, targeting young people. The latest initiative, the EU campaign Help - For a life without tobacco is reaching its end after four years of activity

Tobacco control at national and European level has evolved significantly during the last few years, as has the nature of young people's media consumption. Aware of the difficulty of promoting public health messages to young people and the need to combine the expertise of the media, tobacco control and public health experts and young people themselves, the Commission decided to organise a conference to address these issues. The aim of the forum is to review the current situation in this field, but also to examine how communication can play a role in other Public health policies. The final aim will be to produce joint recommendations, which will be of use for subsequent Commission communication exercises.

The conference will bring together experts from various fields: experts in combating smoking; public health experts; media experts; ministerial representatives; representatives of youth organisations; representatives from other European organisations and a series of guests invited by the Commission.

The conference was held in Brussels from October 9 - 11 2008. The presentations of the speakers are available here.

The two first TV waves were broadcasted in June and September 2005. List of National Help Campaign Partners (Last update: August 2005)
