On the Monday 2 February 2026 the EU Health Policy Platform co-organised an #EUHPP Live webinar with the Joint Research Centre.

This webinar offered the attendees the possibility of the deep dive into the recently released cancer incidence and mortality estimates for 2024 in the European Union, presented in the European Cancer Information System (ECIS). This webinar introduced attendees to the collaborative efforts of the European population-based Cancer Registries, focusing on how data are validated and harmonised to produce reliable cancer burden indicators. Attendees explored the powerful capabilities of ECIS, including its statistical analyses, visualisation tools, and the challenges posed by data gaps across Europe. Additionally, the session presented the 2024 cancer burden estimates, underscoring regional disparities, and offered projections of trends up to 2040.
