Science made simple: new science factsheet on sunscreens with titanium dioxide as nanoparticles

Some sunscreens contain titanium dioxide nanoparticles. Is it safe to use them? The factsheet explains the opinion of the experts of the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS).

In this section, some of the opinions of the European Commission's non-food Scientific Committees are presented in a format and language which can be easily understood by non-specialists.

The reader can choose between short and easy to read science factsheets (1 page) and web summaries which go more into depth. Both publications are written in layman language. As such, even non-specialist readers can become familiar with the issues addressed and the conclusions reached by the Scientific Committees.
