Tobacco: Commission urges Croatia, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden to notify transposition of the Directive on tobacco products sold in the EU

Today, the European Commission sent a reasoned opinion to Croatia, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden to notify full transposition of the Tobacco Products Directive (Directive 2014/40/EU). This Directive aims to improve the functioning of the internal market for tobacco and related products, while ensuring a high level of health protection for European citizens. The Directive sets out that its provisions should had been transposed into national law by 20 May 2016.
