BUMPER - Boosting the Usability of the EU Mobile App for Cancer Prevention

Boosting the Usability of the EU Mobile App for Cancer Prevention (BUMPER) aims to support and enhance the design, development and promotion of the EU Mobile App for Cancer Prevention.

The App will use the European Code against Cancer to communicate clear and accessible evidence-based information on the risk factors of cancer. It will also provide users of the App with effective preventive measures that they can use for themselves and share with others to reduce their cancer risk.

The project has four key objectives:

  1. Support the design and development of the EU Mobile App for Cancer Prevention
  2. Engage with potential end-users to get feedback on the effectiveness and ease of use of the App
  3. Train health promoters in digital health literacy on how to use and spread the App
  4. Pilot ways to promote the App with specific target groups in several different countries.

Results

The project will provide evidence-based guidance on the content and focus of the App, while helping to guarantee its scientific validity.

Users of the App should:

  • have a good knowledge of the evidence-based risk factors for cancer;
  • know how to prevent or minimize these risks;
  • be able to follow the preventive measures recommended by the European Code Against Cancer.

The project will develop a strategy to help promote the App on a wide scale. It will also boost the skills and capabilities of cancer leagues in promoting and applying the App.
