EUnetCCC – European network of Comprehensive Cancer Centres
The EUnetCCC Joint Action supports Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan by establishing a unified network of Comprehensive Cancer Centres (CCCs) across EU Member States. This initiative integrates cutting-edge cancer research with high-quality care delivery, fostering a comprehensive approach to cancer treatment. By harmonizing care standards, enhancing collaboration, and addressing regional disparities, EUnetCCC ensures equitable access to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for 90% of Europe’s population.
Key objectives include developing a Europe-wide certification scheme for CCCs, implementing capacity-building programs, and fostering innovation through the integration of research and clinical care. This synergy enables continuous improvements in patient outcomes, the adoption of advanced treatments, and the sharing of best practices across centers.
Through robust governance, sustainability planning, and a focus on inclusivity, EUnetCCC is transforming cancer care into an integrated, patient-centered system that reduces inequalities and improves quality of life across Europe.
Results
The EUnetCCC Joint Action is expected to deliver transformative outcomes in cancer care across Europe. By establishing a Europe-wide certification framework for Comprehensive Cancer Centres (CCCs), the project ensures consistent quality standards and fosters trust in care delivery. Capacity-building programs will enhance skills and infrastructure, equipping CCCs to address diverse regional challenges effectively. The integration of research and clinical care will accelerate innovation, enabling advanced treatments and evidence-based practices to benefit patients more rapidly.
Additionally, the initiative aims to expand access to equitable cancer care by addressing disparities, ensuring that small and Eastern European countries are included in the network. Strengthened collaboration between centers will drive the sharing of best practices and promote continuous improvement in patient outcomes, ultimately shaping a more inclusive and effective cancer care landscape across Europe.
This comprehensive approach underscores the project’s commitment to reducing inequalities, improving patient-centered care, and enhancing the overall quality of life for cancer patients and survivors.
