PRAISE-U - PRostate cancer Awareness and Initiative for Screening in the European Union
Among cancers, prostate cancer is one of the deadliest cancers among men in Western and Northern Europe .
It is also the most frequently occurring male cancer in Europe, with around 450 000 men diagnosed every year .
Delayed diagnosis can lead to higher rates of metastasis, and consequently to increased mortality and prolonged negative impacts on quality of life. Organised and repeated screening results in early detection, which can reduce suffering and death from prostate cancer .
PRAISE-U aims to align screening protocols and guidelines across Member States and enable the collection and distribution of relevant data.

Expected results:
The project’s ultimate mission is to design a cost-effective early-detection algorithm for prostate cancer that can be tailored to national needs. This will help to reduce morbidity and mortality caused by prostate cancer, while avoiding incorrect diagnosis and unnecessary treatment.
