Public consultation on the SCHER preliminary report on
Risk assessment methodologies and approaches for mutagenic and carcinogenic substances

The European Commission has requested the Scientific Committees SCHER, SCCP and SCENIHR to prepare an opinion on "The risk assessment methodologies and approaches for mutagenic and carcinogenic substances".

The three Scientific Committees have approved a preliminary report to provide the Commission with a review of the available methodologies and approaches used for assessing the risk of substances which are both mutagenic and carcinogenic. Scope of the opinion is to give an advice on how to harmonize the use of different approaches and possibly avoid divergent scientific opinions.

Deadline for submission of comments: 2 December 2008

Please note that comments which do not relate to the scope of this public consultation or do not comply with the criteria for these public consultations will not be considered.
