Report
On 12 March 2019, the EU AMR One-Health Network, chaired by the European Commission, met in Brussels. Network members include representatives from public health and animal health sides from all 28 EU countries, Commission experts and EU agencies. The bi-annual EU AMR One-Health Network meetings provide its members with a platform to present national action plans and activities, share best practices, discuss policy options and enhance coordination.
For the first time, NGOs active in the field were invited: the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE), the Council of European Dentists (CED) and the Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) presented an initiative that they launched on One Health in undergraduate education. The meeting was the opportunity for some Member States to present their activities and action plans in the field of AMR. Network members were provided with information on research activities, and in particular on the Joint Programming Initiative on AMR and the Danish initiative to establish an independent International Centre for AMR Solutions, and on the draft recommendations from the UN Interagency Coordinating Group on AMR. The meeting concluded with presentations from EFSA and ECDC on their latest activities in the field of AMR.
Another meeting of the EU AMR One-Health Network will take place later this year.
