Mental health is an integral part of public health. Over the past 25 years, the European Commission has supported actions and projects to improve people’s mental health in the EU and beyond including the new comprehensive approach to mental health which was published this year.
To mark World Mental Health Day on 10 October 2023, the European Commission held a half-day, high-level conference in Brussels, hosted by Stella Kyriakides, European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety. This event brought together hundreds of representatives from the EU institutions, national governments, international organisations and other interested partners to raise awareness of the new approach, hear from experts and those with lived experience, and to exchange on good practices linked to the following topics:
- Mental health across all policies
- Promotion & Prevention
