Commission Expert group on Public Health

Yesterday, the Commission adopted a Commission Decision establishing an expert group on public health. The new expert group will advise the Commission on policy development and transfer of best practices related to major public health challenges, including both non-communicable disease (such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases) as well as communicable diseases (such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and hepatitis, vaccination and antimicrobial resistance) in order to protect and improve the health of EU citizens. This new group replaces a former group focusing on non-communicable diseases (the Steering Group on Health Promotion, Disease Prevention and Management of Non-Communicable Diseases).
