These four 2024 Thematic Networks are working on different Joint Statements until November. Find more information on the topics they cover hereby and, in the presentations given at the Pitch webinar on 24 June.

They will be organising webinars and calling for collaboration and endorsement on the upcoming months, follow them, contribute, and don’t miss out!

“A Global Continuum for Healthy Generations” led by 6 universities from 5 EU Member States

This Thematic Network tackles the growing issue of unhealthy lifestyles and physical inactivity across all ages. We propose a multidisciplinary and -sectoral approach integrating prevention, personalization, inclusion, and digital interventions to promote healthier living and combat chronic diseases.

“Advancing Precision Medicine for Europe's Cancer Patients with AI-powered Imaging” led by the European Society of Radiology

This Thematic Network builds upon the European Cancer Imaging Initiative and the ecosystem it has created and works with stakeholders on a joint statement towards achieving better integration of AI-powered imaging with other diagnostic tools and data, with the aim of bringing integrated diagnostics into the clinic and thus contribute to the full implementation of Europe's Beating Cancer Plan, the EU Cancer Mission and digital health in Europe.

“NLPCGen. Natural Language Processing for Cancer Genomics” led by the Robert Koch Institute

This Thematic Network aims to harness the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP) methods to identify genetic variations and specific regions associated with cancer from genomic data. We will develop strategies to address the challenge of deciphering the functions of uncharacterized genes using deep learning techniques and specialized NLP algorithms, while ensuring the clinical utility and applicability of the research.

“Towards an EU Coordination Plan for the Brain” led by the European Brain Council

This Thematic Network aims to address the burden of brain conditions while positioning brain health and brain capital as pivotal and much needed EU health, social and research policy orientations. By uniting stakeholders from the wider brain community, this initiative is set to develop policy recommendations for a comprehensive European Brain Health, Research and Innovation Plan to enhance prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, and care of brain disorders, fostering a healthier and more innovative Europe.
