Results

Expected results include:

The CraNE project will establish  EU Network of Comprehensive Cancer Centres (CCCs) that will improve the quality of cancer care in Europe and promote collaboration between CCCs.

The short-term effects of CraNE will be closer collaboration among CCCs and improvements in cancer care and research. The medium-term effects will be different types of networking, cross-border collaborations, and implementation projects based on best care practices. The ultimate impact of CraNE will be the establishment of an EU level network of CCCs by 2025, with a complete set of eligibility criteria, admissions process, governance systems and secretariat for the EU Network, quality standards, education and research frameworks, and quality improvement procedures.

Specifically, CraNE will:

  • define eligibility criteria and governance systems for the EU Network;
  • increase the quality of cancer care and promote collaboration between CCCs, with a focus on research and training opportunities;
  • establish closer collaboration among CCCs in the EU in the short-term;
  • develop different types of networking, cross-border collaborations, and best practice implementation projects in the medium-term;
  • establish a complete platform for the implementation of the EU Network of CCCs by 2025 with quality standards, education and research frameworks, and quality improvement procedures in place.
